Hello friends!
I hope you all are excited for the weekend, do you have any plans? Take over the world? blanket cocoon? Spring cleaning? Movies? Family events?? The list can go on and on, but you get the idea haha.
I think I need to focus back on my list of “to-dos” and perhaps do something for my home. Something to help brighten it up a bit or maybe…just maybe fix one of the million things that needs to be done *sigh* home-ownership meh.
Anyway, back to blogging fun! Since I am still fairly new at this whole blog thing, I was wondering if you could give me some advice for starting out. By this I mean, I have a few questions and thoughts and if you don’t mind, could you share your thoughts!? Here we go:
- Do you have social media pages for your blog? Do you find them helpful or no? Pros/cons if you will. I don’t use them personally but I was curious to hear about this one
- I verified my webpages for search engines?? So I think that is good?
- Bloglovin’ – so I think once I post this blog, I will have “verified” or “claimed” my blog. I am new to this as well haha. Are there any other places to do this? I am obviously social networking/fun blog tools challenged… 😀
- Do you participate in any WP challenges? For example, I did my first one Wednesday for my photo. I enjoyed it and was thinking I could learn more about them and see if some of the ones that you complete would be fun for me too!
- Do you share your blog with your friends and family?
- Do you use any tools/apps/software etc. to assist in your blogging? If so, do you mind sharing!?
I think that is all I’ve got for now. I greatly appreciate you all reading and advice!

Hey k!! I have a Facebook, twitter and Instagram account for my blog but I’m not sure if they help with traffic or anything else lol I love Bloglovin, but prefer to follow my blogs on my WordPress reader! I haven’t participated in any challenges, usually I just write my own thing. I share with my friends and family, but not on my personal Facebook, for example. Only close friends and family!

I used to love bloglovin to follow blogs, but I think most people there still uses Blogspot. You have huge bloggers there and I used it a lot before I was a blogger. Now I only go there to check on the blogs I followed before. I prefer the WordPress reader now.

Hey there! Good questions. I sometimes will publish my posts on my Facebook wall, but that’s about it… I will do this if one of my Facebook friends is mentioned in a particular post, that way I can tag them, and draw a bit more traffic. As far as software goes, I only use the WordPress app on my iPhone and iPad… but I like to keep things simple. I don’t get a whole lot of hits, unless I’m traveling for fun, then I get quite a few friends and family to follow along the journey.

It seems that most people like to keep their blog more on the private side – only sharing a little bit here and there. I like that you handle it that way.
I myself am a hermit. I have pretty much zero social media for my personal life so even considering expanding in that direction was a bit scary if you will.
I am doing pretty well and hope you are as well! Hope to catch up again soon!

Ahhh- great to hear from you. I do keep much private, but no longer require approval for anyone to go to my site. I just don’t post the overly personal stuff anymore, but keep a separate, private journal for all that stuff.

I recommend the challenges for reaching readers who otherwise would never see you blog posts. I love photography and poetry, so I participate in the photo challenge every week, and combine the two. Usually, at least 600 folks join the photo challenge as posters and many more as readers.
BTW, nice to meet a neighbor in Ohio! I won’t even hold it against you that the Blue Jackets are in the playoffs and the Red Wings are not. 😦

Hi Tom! Thank you for the tip, I looked into more challenges this morning. Whew! There are a lot of them! I enjoy taking photos as well, not a professional by any means but I am known to pull out my phone and snap pics away… all the time. Its the memories – they may not seem like much but the memory trigger for them, there is nothing quite like it. I had a starter DSLR for a bit but found I just did not use it much. I am now on the hunt maybe for a little decent pocket point and shoot maybe. I think I would be more open to using one if it was in my bag. Any budget suggestions!?
Also, YES! So glad to have met a fellow neighbor!!! Super exciting… also exited that our Jackets are going to the playoffs! We had a good year (ahem…for once). We deserve one right??? Just give us this 🙂

I have a Nikon Cool Pix 3600. Reasonable price and I like the results. I bought it a few years ago, but if they still don’t have it, there must be an equivalent.
