Monday coffee fueled thoughts!

Hello friends & happy Monday!

null

Tis a grey, gloomy day in Columbus, OH. I have thrown down my vitamin d gummies (like a REAL adult..ahem) and currently enjoying a large coffee. Essentially with that combo, I should be ready to take on the world soon!

How was everyone’s weekend? Did you do anything new or exciting?

I did a lot of “adulting” things I guess you could say – I am all caught up on laundry and cleaning. There is something so soothing about a clean space, I need to stay on top of it more…. Cluttered space = cluttered mind and I say NO MORE!

I am feeling better emotionally this week – knock on wood. I am hoping to keep it that way. Thanks again for all your support last week friends ❤ you are the best! I did not realize that I needed a damn battle helmet to start/get through last week. Had I known, I would have worn it with pride…and accessorized it accordingly.

With all of last week’s aftermath still floating around in my head, I am thinking about trying to expand my self-care list. Mine is rather small and includes: basking in sun when available in Ohio and blanket cocooning with Netflix playing in the background to recharge. I clearly need to try some more options, before I turn into a full blown hermit! So with that that in mind, What is your favorite self care tip/activity?? Hopefully by sharing, we will all try something new!

I hope everyone has a great start to the week, talk to you soon!

❤️❤️❤️

    Glad you’re feeling improved. 🙂
One thing that really helps me is coffee (yep, me too) along with composing bad poetry with my little notepad… there’s something about physical pen-on-paper that is very therapeutic.
Also, Sudoku — which a lot of people find very dull, I’m sure, but there’s something about concentrating on numbers that calms certain parts of my brain, I think. 🙂

Thank you! I appreciate that so much 🙂 I love your list btw! I am a big fan of word finds and word puzzles haha so I completely get that, along with the idea that most think that it is dull as well. Coffee of course and you know, I have not put a pen to paper in terms of feelings/thoughts/ideas in a while now. My therapist does say that it is very therapeutic and scientifically proven – I think that I am lacking the perfect journal to do so. Something that travels well will be key!

Thanks again for reading and hope to chat again soon! Enjoy Sudoku!

Oh, you’re most welcome, Katrina… and thank you. 🙂 Yes I like word puzzles, too, but I’m not as sharp as I was, so more practice is needed! Haha yes, you might need to hunt for the perfect journal — oh, and I forgot to add how therapeutic I find it to go for walks with phone/iPhone deliberately turned off, too: definitely aids the calm and ‘getting away from it all’ vibe. (If you have a park or similar nearby, it helps!)
Thank you and yep, chat soon. Keep taking it easy!

Bubble baths!! I’m not one for bath bombs or salts; bubbles are where its at! I also like to give myself pedicures, and I don’t mean just painting my toes; trim, scrub, lotion, paint, design little flowers on my big toes with a tooth pick. It might be just me, but it could work for you too! 🙂 Glad things are looking up for you!

Thank you for reading and sharing love! I do enjoy a good bath every once in a while, or scalding hot shower?? If I go the bath route, I have to fight this weird OCD thing where I must scrub/bleach the tub first before I can enjoy it… I know, its weird lol. But when I do set aside that time, bubble are pretty damn amazing! Also, I am pretty intrigued by this full on pedicure! You paint little flowers!? I am jealous, I have tried and my flowers (or any little design) and toothpicks just end up a mess – yikes! Perhaps I need to practice more lol!

I hope to chat again soon and thanks for all the love!

Hmmm self care… Going to the shop and buying all sorts of vegetables always makes me feel better. Just the act of knowingly buying healthy things makes me feel more in control of my destiny. I realise that the healthy part only works if you actually eat the vegetables, but for some reason that part doesn’t ever feel as important….

Also drawing or stress baking always relaxes me. The act of focusing on a recipe, and following it, and then successfully making something delicious… It always makes me feel better, whether it’s a complicated cake or simple chocolate rice krispie squares. Drawing and colouring are the same – after I finish I feel like I’ve created something. Creating things makes me feel better… I guess not too dissimilar to Bex’s toe-painting!

LOL! I can see the appeal to buying those colorful fruits and veggies. I also enjoy looking at them, purchasing them and also…. not eating them. My body hates me for that.

Drawing used to be my favorite past time. It has been so long, I tried sketching (what I thought was something simple) a couple days ago and failed, got pissed and have not tried again yet. I miss it so much and painting. I have set that as one of my goals as well.

Stress baking! Ah! This makes me love you even more. I enjoy a good complex cake from time to time. Do you have a favorite recipe that you go to more often than others when this baking vibe comes about!?

You know, I was just saying to a friend yesterday how I don’t understand those who willingly bake from scratch when the boxed mix taste just as good every time (in my humble, commoner opinion). Reading your comment helped me to see another side of baking that I hadn’t fully considered. It makes sense; I see that now. I think I’ll try baking something from scratch the next time I want to unwind or clear my mind.

I am glad you are feeling better this week! Ugh to adulting! I was busy trying to get back to a normal routine this weekend. I was painting, spring cleaning, even went shopping for a bit- but today I am tired. I think I over did it. Today is a lazy day! LOL
My self care routine is usually working out, writing/blogging and lately my painting. Sometimes it is me taking off to get a new hairstyle/color…. or reading a new book….as long as I take some downtown that reflects my personality and interests I’m good.

Thank you Irene! I appreicate all your support last week <3. Adulting can be too much, I hate it and get overwhelmed easily at times while doing it. Lazy days are where its at!

A lot of my friends do not understand this "need" to like hibernate for the day(s). They are more social creatures and just do not understand I guess.

I reallllly wish I could get on to the exercising routine. I want to love it, I just have not been able to get there yet. I have been debating joining a new gym near me and I just have been too lazy to go sign up – ugh. Perhaps I can get my butt up there this weekend.

Blogging has become something super theraputic for me as well. I did not think that I would love it as much as I do. Sharing all the random things in my head and feelings, I did not think I would have followers but I am almost to 100 (woo!). I must be doing something right and meeting such great people, I love it!

I almost dyed my hair purple the other day…. but I don't think my boss would have liked that. It took all self control, sigh.

Hope to chat soon! Enjoy your day!

Katrina, this is a great question and the responses are just as great! I make it a point to always have some candles light around the house. I have even started shutting off all of the lights at bedtime and walking to my room holding a candle. I invest in nice candlesticks; I hunt for them- many I find in thrift stores (which sounds contrary but isn’t). Walking to my room at the end of the night reminds me of the English novels, like anything Jane Austen, that made me fall in love with good literature. I’ve been daydreaming of that time period since I was a teenager, so it makes me feel special and there.

I also drink warm lemon water in the mornings and cucumber water throughout the day. Everytime I go to take a sip and smell the fragrance, I feel a sensation of pride go through me, remembering that I’m taking care of myself because I love myself. There are some other things, but I’ve said too much!

Glad things are better for you! I personally love the sun, and sunlight. When it isn’t around I don’t get anything done. The sun is finally out where I am and I am going to embrace it! That’s my self care. Also drinking coffee, sitting with my cats, and watching youtube videos (:

Oh! You and I my friend are a lot alike! I love ALL of those things too! Self care for me is pretty simple, I am fine going into sloth mode even!

I hope you are having a good day! ❤
